SERVICES : FOR SENIORS - GROUPS

We offer a FREE, introductory, on-site Internet seminar to groups! There is no obligation attached. We'll supply the computer, the video projector, the connection to the Internet and the instructor. You simply have to provide us with a room (with a white surface to project the Internet onto) and a phone jack. We just want to give you and your group an opportunity to sample the wonders of the Internet!

Unfortunately, many older Adults & Seniors remain unfamiliar with computers and how to access the Internet. This is where we can help. earlSpeak's mission is to introduce the wonders of the Internet to your community. Where there is interest, earlSpeak can help its clients buy a computer, set it up, choose an Internet service provider, provide personalized one-on-one Internet tutoring at their residence and subsequent telephone support.

OUR SERVICES:

  • Group technology training classes for your senior members/residents and for your staff. See our complete list of courses
  • Wirelessly transmit the Internet signal throughout the facility allowing residents and guests to securely access the Internet
  • Creation of a Corporate Sponsorship Program for your center's computer lab

EdgehillCASE STUDY: Stamford-Edgehill Life Care Community

Beginning in July 2001, a select group of Edgehill residents were enrolled in our continuing series of weekly computer training lectures, covering topics ranging from "how to use a mouse" to "building and posting your own website". Their appetite for gaining knowledge about computers and technology in general was tremendous and continues to grow increasingly more sophisticated.

In the fall of 2002, Edgehill administration recognized that it was time to extend greater support to their residents' burgeoning interest in computers and so with earlSpeak's help, the new Resident's Computer Lab was born in December 2002. The new computer lab comprises 7 networked and Internet-enabled computers (recycled from the pool of computers used by Edgehill's administrative staff) along with a printer and a projector (through which the earlSpeak instructor's screen image is cast onto the wall for all the students to see). Internet access was accomplished by piggy-backing the existing T-1 line used by the administrative staff. The entire facility was established and brought to operation for just over $5,000 in incremental investment!

Our goal is to introduce all of the Edgehill's residents to computers and the Internet and to provide another amenity to the Edgehill community - much like the swimming pool and the physical therapy gym. To this end, a full curriculum of classes has been designed by the earlSpeak staff and open enrollment in the new hands-on computer lab classes began in March 2003. While the primary users became the residents, we also expect that the Edgehill staff will receive job-relevant computer training from earlSpeak in the computer lab.

earlSpeak is also pioneering a corporate sponsorship program to offset the on-going operating expenses of the new Edgehill computer lab. These attractive sponsorship opportunities became available beginning in March 2003. Sponsorship immediately benefits the distinguished residents of the Edgehill and enhances the sponsoring companies' recognition and visibility at the Edgehill and among the greater Stamford (Connecticut) community in general.
